Here you go…
Here you go…
That’s me and part of my display in the upper right corner, wearing a pink scarf. The event took place in November at the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning, in Kingston. A great place.
Come say Hi at this exciting new event.
But wait! There’s more!
The Kingston Pottery Guild is also holding their annual holiday sale – on the same weekend – in the same building, which is home to both our groups.
For high quality artisinal gifts come to the Tett Centre Nov. 26 & 27.
See you there.
There was a great turn-out with Sunday being the better day, for me at least.
I was at the member’s table along with 8 others – each of us allocated a width of 2 feet to display our work. Sounds tiny but it actually works well.
The pair of earrings at the top of this blog found a new home, as did a smaller version of them. Some copper earrings also sold…things I did not take pictures of!
The great thing about creating things that you sell is when somebody likes them enough to buy them. But the downside – one every artist knows – is that when you work one-of-a-kind, once the pieces go – they’re gone. That’s why photos are so valuable to us and that is what spurs me on to make more.
I will make more earrings similar to these but each pair will always be different, from the cut of the silver, the curve of the ear hooks to the hammer blows and the final polish.
(I see that these are actually showing up far more yellow and not nearly as gleaming as they really are.) (Next investment: proper photo lighting set-up… :)…)
Our table was the first one at the door, but of course Gem Storm is a huge show with over 30 exhibitors and so many kinds of stones and chains and rocks and rings, etc etc I could barely take it alllll in. I did get a nice deal on some packaging though. Will show you soon.
Next year the show is moving to the Cataraqui Arena and it will be held in June. Bigger space, more parking, food on site – all good. But I sure will miss being able to just walk over with my little rolling suitcase to set-up…
This square copper pendant was treated to a bath in ammonia to give it its lustrous blue patina.
The fan shapes are pieces of copper I shaped with no particular plan. Also visible here are some brass pieces that went through the rolling mill. I later used them to emboss the copper fans but I am still working on them.
Sterling silver earrings, hammered copper disc earrings, bezel-set ring, spinner ring, wrapped silver wire ring, enamel and copper earrings, sterling silver necklaces, copper dangle earrings, pendant with Lake Ontario stone and three charms.
Also had on hand: more hammered copper earrings, green leaf enamel earrings, poppy seed pod earrings (on manequin), sterling silver bar necklace, a variety of rings and pendants.
A real conversation starter: the elegant wood card holder which other vendors were quite keen on! You can see it better in the previous picture.
These are some of my things offered at the Show and Sale
by 30 artisans – silversmiths, rock hounds, potters and weavers.
